A Carleton Place contractor has been fined $7,500 for using a fabricated professional engineer's seal and the title "professional engineer" on a report sent to the City of Ottawa.
Professional Engineers Ontario says Jeff Rubino was convicted by the Ontario Court of Justice on three counts of breaching the Professional Engineers Act this month.
Rubino used the fake seal and credentials when he submitted a building permit application to modify a home by removing a load bearing wall.
He was caught when a city building department official checked his license status and found he was not actually licensed as a professional engineer in Ontario.
