Businessman charged with numerous Fraud related offences

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Fraud Unit conducted investigations into an Ottawa-based business named Innovalty Investments Ltd. and its owner in relation to fraud allegations made from members of the public between 2016 and 2017.  

The investigations revealed that the company’s owner fraudulently obtained money proposing an investment opportunity involving a newly build housing project in Carleton Place. 

Today, James PELLERIN, 65 years old of Ottawa has been charged with eight counts of Fraud over $5000 and 13 counts of obtaining credit by false pretence or by fraud. 

He was released on an Undertaking with a condition to appear in court on January 29, 2021. 

So far, 13 victims have been identified by investigators for a total loss of over $600,000. They   believe that there may be other victims and are asking them to contact police.
