Suspects Involved in Granny Scam

The Ottawa Police Organized Fraud Unit and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance with the identity of two male believed responsible for a fraud scam.
Also known as a “emergency fraud scam or granny scam” the victim was contacted and told a family member was involved in a motor vehicle accident and were required to help pay for damages. In lieu of cash, they were advised to pay for damages with gift cards. The suspects were provided with the gift card codes over the phone.
The suspects attended several retail stores in the Ottawa area with the codes and made purchases totaling thousands in value. Please view the attached photos provided by investigator.
